மிளகு கஷாயம் ( Pepper Kashayam )

To Make மிளகு கஷாயம் you need :

milagu or pepper – 1 tablespoon
cumin seeds or jeera – 2 teaspoons
sukku or dry ginger powder – a pinch
sugar -1 tablespoon
honey – 1 tablespoon
water – 1 and 1/2 cups

Dry roast black peppercorns in a low flame till they get roasted well.

Once the pepper gets roasted well, add cumin seeds and saute for a few seconds. Wait till they sizzle.

Transfer the roasted peppercorns and cumin seeds to a plate and allow it to cool.

Add sugar to the same pan, reduce the flame to low and let the sugar melt and you will find it turning deep in color.

Now add 1 and 1/2 cups of water, stir well. Let it boil.

Meanwhile, powder cumin and pepper. Add the powder to the boiling water along with a pinch of dry ginger powder, mix well. Let it boil for a few minutes and then turn off the flame.

Filter the mixture. milagu kashayam is ready.
